Re: Project Hubbard: is there a point?
Pre-stretch goals, they're going to author, design and manufacture a 300-page hardback book, and fund at least ten new albums, and there's a game, too. Also – importantly – the entire thing benefits Rob Hubbard. £50,000 for all that really isn't much.

Re: C64-style tune from Korg Gadget
Another track with a Rowlands-style bassline and inspired by the C64:

C64-style tune from Korg Gadget
I'm totally obsessed by Korg Gadget for iPad, and have started trying to create entire tracks from one of the dozen or so built-in synths. The latest uses Kingston, a 'chip synthesizer', and started to resemble some of the C64 stuff I love so much. In particular, a 'drum' rhythm seemed very Steve Ro...

Re: Help with SID C64 riff identification
Yep. I realised that later on. I thought it was familiar but couldn't place it. Looks like I'll be rewriting one of my loops!

Help with SID C64 riff identification
I've been playing around a lot with Korg Gadget and wrote a riff I'm 99.9% certain is from a C64 track, but I can't place it, and I'm away from my SID stuff. Does anyone recognise it from the sound file below? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mu1nf6fbrgm64n5/XL4A9kgtqK/43.wav EDIT: Never mind. I just grab...

Re: New Depeche Mode Album.
I was surprised how bad I thought the new stuff was when I heard it recently. Heaven is just a lifeless ballady Gore effort and a really curious choice of single. It's like Gore on auto-pilot. (Compare to Personal Jesus, I Feel You, Barrel of a Gun or even Precious or Dream On as an intro to new mat...

New album from Craig's Project Noise
Just a quick note to say I recently released an album, Listen To Me , my first in seven years (gulp). Although this isn't a chip-tune release, it might appeal to some people from around these parts—there's a definite 1980s vibe in many of the tracks (bits of Visage in Fools, Kraftwerk in Theme, and ...

Re: Red Nation - more Whittaker
Chris: So what was the conclusion? Is Senfter still reselling David's tune to everyone and cutting David out of income? And what do you mean by a statute of limitation? Presumably, David didn't go to court soon enough? That's really shitty.

Red Nation - more Whittaker
Saw the Contraband trailer last night and my ears went "I know that hook". It was from The Game , released almost a year back*, and it's another Lazy Jones rip (seemingly using the sample from the Zombie Nation mix that has a sports crowd sample 'singing' the hook). So has David seen anyth...

Re: I cant believe it taken this long ..
1732 came out last week, and there are a few oddly numbered issues (2000–2011 at year ends—g knows what they're going to do if the comic lasts another six years).

Re: Tomorrow is Zombie Nation day [case postponed now]
Out of curiosity, is his age on any court documents? I'd love to know how old he was when 'he' wrote the music for a C64 game programmed in 1983/4. This whole thing infuriates me, not because I'm anti-sampling (I'm not, and I think lawsuits based around fractional samples are idiotic) and not becaus...

Re: Tomorrow is Zombie Nation day [case postponed now]
Nice. Out of curiosity, would that not have any bearing on the case as it stands? He surely can't resell bits of someone else's song when he's not claiming ownership over the writing (or is he doing that)?

Good grief—here's hoping; but knowing the way the Stardust saga's gone, maybe he got the rights from Zombie Nation!

Re: Tomorrow is Zombie Nation day [case postponed now]
That verdict is shocking. So is the result effectively that while there's no proof Florian S wrote the tune, there's no proof David W wrote it either (in the eyes of the courts)? What was the argument against David? The only thing I can think of is no proof of contact combined with (I'm assuming) un...
