Actually, I believe that it is down to whoever offers a product or service, to decide what they offer. I don't disagree with that - I was merely pointing out that clinging to the wreckage of old systems only makes one sound rather like the majors, who are doing their best to screw up the digital mu...

I voted no because of piracy reasons. No offence, but this makes you sound like EMI or Warner. Surely the point of modern media is that people should have the _choice_ of how to buy? Apple's iTunes Store (3 million downloads in a month) seems to suggest that this works, if it's done properly. Also,...

I don't see why not if they were sensibly prices and encoded well and at a high enough bit rate (say $1 and 192kbps MP3).

I have to agree with the 'classics' point. To my mind, only a few tracks on the CD approach that space (in terms of both composition and nostalgia): Spellbound and Shades in particular, but perhaps also Parallax and Stormlord, albeit in a less 'pop' way than the likes of Monty, Sanxion, et al. Howev...

Tas - I think the soundtrack thing comes across sucessfully - even more so than on BIT3 (although, unfortunately, that seems to require a rather weak 'credits' piece). Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this CD now. I downloaded most of the clips from C64audio.com last night to decide whether to bu...

Hey, I'll kill ANYONE who disses Roland's Rat Race or Rydeen... I'm warning you...!! *grrr* :) *cough* the line between "remix" and "track which has the same name as a game but very little of the tune left" mostly leaves the listener with a sense of betrayal, unless it's done re...

Actually, I think it was down to it not (for me, at least) being as much of a leap from BIT1 as I'd have liked, and several ropey tunes let it down. Now BIT3, on the other hand...

I agree to some point, Neil, and having listened to the snippets a few more times, I reckon I will buy the CD when it comes out. To my mind, the big difference between it and the likes of ZN is that ZN is just a hook - much, much simpler, and therefore less of an original to draw on. Mind you, it'd ...

lets look at Lazy Jones. Now before zombie nation got their hands on it, many people would be non the wiser about the sid. That's the example I usually use, although it has to be said, that track had the marketing clout of the MoS behind it - something that Remix64 2 won't have. Therefore getting i...

The most you can hope for in that case is that you've done a good enough job to make the piece likeable in its own right I think this is exactly right, even in the case of catchy dance numbers, as opposed to the filmic stuff on R64 2. I was somewhat surprised to see Rubicon on there - I didn't thin...

Re: Lost Kwed Remixes

I can't help with the MP3s, as I only have 100 or so of them on my hard-drive. However, for Amiga MODs - Mac sequencer, check out Player Pro:

Likewise, I sold mine a looong time ago. I don't really consider it a mistake, though; I have little enough space as it is, and Power64 and SIDPlay are more than suitable replacements.

Is Neil really going for good this time? I mean, he said that last time and came back a month later.

Neil, if you read this, I hope you manage to deal with your personal problems, and take care of yourself. Here's hoping you'll still be a regular contributor to this great site that you've created.

Re: My thoughts ...

And by the way I don't think a clip would change a decision of buying or not buying. The opposite's true for me, particularly with indie stuff. I've bought several Realworld albums purely on the basis of clips from the Web site; I'd not have bothered otherwise, as I'd have not known what the sound ...

My first written stuff disappeared when I sold my first keyboard, bought around '86 and sold a few years later. I still have some stuff on tape from around 1990, though, which is, erm, not that good.
