Just ordered Sonar 3 Producer, the MAudio Omni Studio Omni I/O with Delta 66 sound card package, and a Shure SM57 mic. They arrive in four days, then the real learning curve begins. :D
It's only a matter of time before my very own RKO rejection.

I guess no one knows how to contact Mr. Fulton. I'll try usenet instead. (I'd be fun to have him do one of the composer interviews occasionally hosted here.) If anyone is interested, here's the playable (via a plugin) Sibelius sheet music for Doug's Skyfox (c64 version) using his original 3 voice ar...

For any other newbies like myself out there, I found the online Tweak lessons to be exceedingly valuable for getting up to speed on all aspects of home studio recording: http://www.tweakheadz.com/guide.htm (I printed out all 270 pages of lessons and read it on the plane this weekend.) For those buyi...

SID composer Douglas Fulton contact info?

Does anyone have an email address for Douglas Fulton? Online information about him is sparse, but I've pulled it all together here. He did music for the following games: ----------------------- The Immortal 1991 Zany Golf 1988 Skyfox 1985 (C64) Music Construction Set 1984 (C64) He wrote some of the ...

One final note on this thread. Late last week, Sibelius announced version 3. Apparently, they too are trying to break into the "I want to make good sounding MP3s" market. To this end, they are now bundling-in the Kontakt player (their shockwave demo of their integration with Kontakt is her...

Wow! There are a lot of options, and there is a lot I don't know. Your collective input has been very valuable, and I have been tracking down information on all your suggestions. Thank you! My game plan is still to compose in Sibelius, then export to a sequencer (which is not Sibelius) for better co...

Er.. know what you want to do with your remix: it sounds like you may be putting the cart before the horse by thinking about the technology before you've worked out what you actually want to do with it. Are you doing orchestral remixes? Synth Remixes? There's little point in just rendering the note...

(Hey Mr. Abbott! It's been a long time since we've had any email correspondence. I'm still doing lots of hacking at work while listening to your stuff. My co-workers love your remixes, even without the C64 nostalgic factor at work.) Ok, I've done a lot of reading online since my initial post. I come...

Getting started in the C64 remix scene

(I just asked this on usenet, but this appears to be a better forum...) I want to participate in the C64 game music MP3 remix scene. I've picked Doug Fulton's Skyfox tune to attack first. What an amazing, yet under appreciated work. Finding the SID online, I converted it to MIDI using Michael Schwen...
