Sidplay2 is crap imho No, it is not. First off: it's still in development (which means there's still more things to be fixed) Second: it's a much more C64 compliant player (therefore if a rip doesn't work on a real C64, it won't work on Sidplay2). The HVSC team have been beavering away fixing offen...

Re: Sidplay 2/w issues
Filter emulation seems... odd. Its not playing tunes how I remember them, certainly not how I remember, or liked. The filter is also not configurable. I cant access the mixer either. Also, my *own* digisid pieces.. the samples are playing out of sync! Let me see.. Firstly, the filter emulation isn'...

I'll never understand the eBay bug. To a degree, Craig, I agree. It's the equivalent of people going to a car boot sale and not realising how much stuff actually is worth before handing their cash. I can understand people bidding if the item is genuinely hard to get hold of, like when I sold my ori...

I was happy enough that a quality song like Mad World got to No.1 rather than the shameless money-grabbing attempt that was made by the Flop Idol crowd. Although true, and it is a nice cover, it was mainly over to a lot of exposure given to the track by BBC Radio 2 that it got anywhere. It featured...

SID suggestions like you asked, Mandrian: /VARIOUS/M-R/PRI/Death_Metal.sid /Hubbard_Rob/Skate_or_Die_intro.sid (still no one's done a good enough mix of this one!!) /Hubbard_Rob/Arcade_Classics.sid /Yip/Netherworld.sid /Hatlelid_Kris/Grand_Prix_Circuit.sid /VARIOUS/A-F/Fanta/Hat_Trick_4Fanta.sid /VA...

Remix a tune in the style of Black Flag/Rollins Band
That's my new challenge to any remixer :) Basically, for those of you who haven't heard of Black Flag, they were one of the most inspiration punk/hardcore bands of the early 1980s, whom after a few releases just so happened to have the godlike genius of Henry Rollins on vocal duties. Think fast pace...

Yeah, it was alright. Welle:Erdball is kind of...special. :) With you on that one, Makke! In fact, the HVSC team very kindly whacked in a lot of Welle:Erdball stuff in their most recent update, so if you haven't checked it out yet, you've got a damned good excuse to do so. Hell, even some of my not...

(DVD-Rs can be a bugger to play - some players like 'em, some don't). I agree on that sentiment. Generally speaking any half-decent DVD player released in the last two or three years are okay with DVD-Rs, but others before then can be very finicky. Reminds me of the times when if your CD player cou...

One thing I do think people need to consider when deciding on who they have liked over the year is the question of innovation. For example, has the remixer given a classic tune a new twist or done such a good job of it that they've raised the stakes of anyone remixing that tune (Sonic Wanderer's Las...

Sorry about that, Rollins attack, it happens every once in a while Respect to that man Larsec there. Anyone who appreciates the genius at work that is Henry Rollins is fine by me. Did you ever see him host Full Metal Challenge on Channel 4? If not, you missed out. For a limited period of 24 hours o...

Re: Drive!
The result is a bit of early 80's Van Halen (especially Jump) with some Dio, Tarot and Nightwish influences thrown in. And very nice it is, too, I have to say. It keeps the spirit of the orignal SID intact and as well as that, gives it a nice hard rock edge that makes you want to listen to it again...

Did the 'Ducks' tune that was part of the Air Dance IV demo make it into the latest HVSC update? No, but I'll drop some hints. Part of the reason it was held back was that the tune takes up a lot of memory (understatement) and part of the memory area of the start of the tune used to clash with what...

Well it was very hard for me to pick 10 great tunes from this update, but I finally managed to do it. Needless to say, some of them are ripe for remixing so I recommend them highly: Apart from Galway's Street Hawk (erm, obviously) ten would be like this: /Gray_Matt/Houndwog.sid (reminds me of Quedex...
