Re: I wish I'd known, since I could have grovelled ;-)

A legend. I think some people would have been annoyed at him after what he created. It led to Dance music and those N N N Nineteen style samples not to mention the Fairlight led to people sampling other artists records! Peeps its just a tool blame the people creating the music! :)

Re: What's your fave C64 orchestral remix?

Don't have a particular fav but it annoys me when certian people have a go at a track that sounds good and mark it down because its uses synthetic brass. I listened to a lot of recent commercial releases and they contain artifical brass. If it sounds ok then use them I can't see what the problem is.

Amiga tune names question.

Hi All,
I just got this question to ask as I've started doing a few amiga remixes. What do you call them? When you do a c64 remix you look up the valid HVSC 56 filename. Is there one for the amiga? I don't know what some tunes are called in games? Any help? cheers!

Re: REMIXERS - Full of talent or left wanting?

When I first discovered RKO from Retro Gamer magazine I thought "Now thats cool. People are still entertained by the sid chip!" So from there I decided to have a go at remixing some tunes from my past. Its great fun and puts the gear you buy or get for free to good use. A nice side effect ...

If you have a c64 remix released at RKO...

Then give yourself a pat on the back - you did it! Making a c64 remix is not an easy task. Commercial remixers have it easy when remixing hit records. All the hard artistic work is done and they get paid for it! They get the parts like the vocals and other familiar sounds to work with. What do c64 r...

Amiga Remix question.

Having done a fair few c64 remixes. I'm thinking of producing a few Amiga tunes for 2012. With sid music you can use sid to midi to quickly and accurately get a transcript of the music. Is there a similiar program for looking at Amiga tunes. I know most tunes are mods and my emulator can rip samples...

Re: What popular music reminds you of the C64-era?

Magnetic Fields by Jean Michel Jarre as used in Yie Ar Kung Fu. Also Frankie Goes To Hollywood Welcome to the pleasure dome. Possibly The Stranglers Dreamtime album and ZZ Top Eliminator because its what I played when playing games with no music.

Re: Voting for a remix: objectivity and the like

Its nice to get recognition for your work but If I get a few green faces It doesn't bother me that much as long as someone likes my work and it eventually outweighs the few that don't then thats good enough for me. Personally I think green comments are voted to pull down the rating because of jealou...

He will be sadly missed.

John Barry 1933 - 2011

Was sadened to hear that John Barry had recently passed away. This composer was a big influence on my music and on my soundtrack remixes - notably my Spy Vs Spy (0064 and counting mix) I think he was one of the best soundtrack composers in his field and I enjoyed his work on the 007 Bond series of f...
