An Atari 2600 + 2 Controllers + Paddle.

I was talking to a co-worker about..what else retro and he mentioned he was going to toss this stuff out.

So I rescued them.

I'm not sure... the Adapter end of the Atari 2600 has been cut off. I could have sworn that the power supply adapter could be disconnected.. but this one has the cord permanently attached. I'll see if I can fit in some repair time this weekend.

The controllers themselves are in good shape no color fading, the cords are a little twisted but should work ok.

the Paddles need repair as well... one paddle is in perfect condition but its partner is missing the round spinner part.

I know the entire thing is not in 100% shape, but I can repair them.

Now I have to see how I'm going to interface this old beast to new TV/Monitor.

Congratulations! I have NO clue where mine is, which I will investigate tomorrow.

Anyway:

You will need either a manual switchbox or an RCA > Coaxial video adapter. This will allow you to connect the system to any cable-ready TV.

One way to hook up the Atari is:

* Remove cable input from back of TV
* Take A+B, connect I to back of TV
* Run RF cable from Atari to C
* Set my TV to channel 3
* Put Switch on Game Setting
* Turn on Atari

If your picture is fuzzy, the most probable cause is that you are using an automatic RF switch (i.e. one that does not physically have to be switched between the "TV" and "game" position). Most (all?) systems starting with the NES use automatic RF switches. These will not work for the 2600/7800, as the signal is not strong enough to trigger the switch completely. A manual RF switch, available at any Radio Shack or equivalent, is the way to happiness. Another possible cause is that the TV is set to channel 3 but the Atari is set to channel 4 or vice versa.
