I first remember hearing commercial / club SID track on an underground compilation 10 years ago. It was a track by Christian Morgenstern, but I forgot the name. I just remember it was one of 'Sexy World' tracks, but not which one. The rest were minimal (techno).
yeah, but isn't it nice that you can hear sid in the club today within modern technology music without ppl going "what the hell is that wobbly noise?"
if you're _not_ a 'clubber' then it'd be noise to you anyway...

Yes, I guess this "wobbly" noises come and go in commercial club music as it develops over years.
But talking of late Christian (R.I.P), I'm impressed solely by the fact someone put a SID on a vinyl and got away with it. This is one of those moments I wish I had a record player so I could enjoy the crackling vinyl SID sounds... More and more with years as vinyl slowly gets worn off.
Well, there are tons of tracks today with something SID-ish in 'em. There are even sample CDs with 8 bit sounds out there. But I consider this nothing more than a passing trend. Rare are ppl like Christian that can (could) make a REAL SID and press it on a vinyl.
