Yup, nice and dinky. They don't fill your pocket and you can actually forget it's there.

Incidentally, I found the other one. It was under the other mouse.

And here's a classic that never was:

I vaguely remember seeing these and being impressed, though without quite knowing what I was looking at. Think I even got them mixed with CD-i. (It was all multimedia magic, wasn't it.) I knew I would have wanted one (or the other) if I had the money but not really knowing what I would do with it back home. Perhaps that was its trouble.

Looking recently, video reviewers bemoaned the lack of good games for the Philips. But I dunno, I seem to have seen some with a quick Ebay search.

Hmm, may put my bid on that over the ST. Find enough music things and I could buy a cheap CD-i. That's my criteria for having any last consoles now.

Love that 'proper gear' look.

Well what have you got? I've no X-box but what's a good selection of the rest?

You could take a snap or two to save describing.

Meanwhile, I've seen some other nice CD-i bits. Definitely tempting.

And here's a reason to maybe think twice about Ebaying.

Though I've had next to never any complaints, it still seems they don't give a hoot in America: http://www.cracked.com/article_20690_5- ... t-ups.html

Though maybe scrub the CD-i, I want these NES games: http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-7-least ... deo-games/

Mario pirates and everything. That nigh-on all NES games file I also mentioned should be found by Googling GoodNES3.14.rar.

SMW: http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/dumping_2005.php

(And cheats: http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/cheatsbase.php#1418 )

I should think only really available on download, hence the vague need for that flash cart I mentioned before.

And scrub the scrub, look at this:

Image

My spare Amiga's a bit blurry. So you know me, never hurts to have a spare spare.

I'll look forward to hearing that tape.

Image

Just what I like, the original artists and the actual SID.

Image
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CASSETTE-TAPE ... 2331fad61b

Just brings the '80s right back.

Image
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Commodore-64- ... 2584f38670

Would I like a spare spare shrink-wrapped Beatles? I think we know the answer to that. Especially when I did see that for £75 last year. A bloody nice synth album.

Still didn't get the spare 1200 yet:

WHOA:

I need £159 fast. Or fast-ish, so long as there's something to run those few MIDI compo progs I still like. And rip samples and PC network.

Ah, but no whoa:

Image
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panasonic-AG- ... 3a8710d168

Once mindlessly expensive pro decks now mindlessly cheap.

I forgot that. The long term future is an unending dry desert of VHS-lessness, so I'll see what good's around after Christmas.

Technology really is a poor investment isn't it? It gets so worthless so fast, with very very rare exceptions (and if it doesn't, inflation does the rest of the job)

It means paradise for a second hand buyer though. Especially one with a mountain of VHS tapes, still finding it more convenient than DVD-R. Even though I was still very excited with my DVD machine twelve years ago, I found the tapes actually last too.

And if you want that stuff, get it now. Especially pristine, you can't expect good condition later.

I was thinking about the pace of change. What home tech did your granny have at 30? Your mother at 30 may have had little more. Now look at our stuff. Even the cast-offs are great now.

I found the high watermark of VHS was roughly 1997-99. Working at Comet I saw some great machines and I currently use two Panasonics which play back perhaps the best I've seen, with Sharps in the rear recording the best picture I've ever seen. (A-B'ing with my DVD player, they are only a touch behind in terms of resolution and they warm the picture too.)

And all told, around 8 with the spares, couldn't have cost more than £150. But I've got my recorders for the best service with those tapes I may as well keep 'til I'm old. And with a diminishing repairs base, I've already needed to raid the larder.

We could do that. Or what about putting one or two choice photos here, so we can all see and shop?
