C64 SID & Amiga MOD Player for Symbian OS Mobile Phones!

Post by BAM »

Hi all,

Hopefully this is not old news (searched the forum before posting), I finally upgraded my old faithful Nokia 3410 to a new Nokia E51 with Symbian OS S60v3 and from the get-go had been looking endlessly for a SID player for it. I thought I was on to a winner whenever I found this http://mikie.iki.fi/symbian/sid/ but it would not work for me (think it only works on S60v2). According to this forum post http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4616 it even lets you assign SIDs as ringtones directly!! This also appears to be an alternate link http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/mraento/symbian/sid/ but its just a 403 forbidden (for me anyway...)

However, I finally came across this http://www.pygmyprojects.com/scenetone.html and it works! The SID emulation is a bit iffy (filters I think), but it runs ok (even some digis worked), and it also supports MOD format, I was able to play a bunch of Amiga modules on it and they were fine! (no Turrican TFMX though  )

If anyone knows of any other SID players for Symbian, I would love to get them as the prospect of having HVSC in my pocket is just too awesome...

BAM:)

Installed it on my Nokia 6290, along with the Commando .SID file. And it works. Sure, the emulation is a bit off, but in a way it's even cooler to have a SID player on my cellphone than the one on my Nintendo DS, since I don't go anywhere without the phone. :D
