I got tinnitus in December during a head cold. Started with one ear, then the other one went a couple months later. Luckily (or maybe not) I only really notice it when I go to bed. I keep a fan on for white noise to try and drown it out.
I'm pretty sure playing drums in a drum corps for 3 years was ...

Thanks
I just want to say, you guys are awesome!
Maybe because we're coming up on Thanksgiving here in the U.S., but I'm feeling a bit generous and just donated a few bucks to RKO.
So thanks to all y'all who keep the music flowing.
Joe

C64 on a plasma
I got together with my brother last weekend and convinced him to hook up an old C=64 to his new plasma TV. =)
His collection of disks isn't quite as large as when we were growing up, but we managed to play Ninja, Archon, Mail Order Monsters, and M.U.L.E. Archon holds up *very* well, and was a blast ...

Re: Favorite games
I've tried a lot of C64 games in the past year that I never got to play back in the day. Here are the ones that I thought were enjoyable without the bias of nostalgia:
-- Cliff Hanger (with his brother Coat!)
-- Paradroid
-- Rockstar Ate My Hamster
-- Little Computer People
-- Rags to Riches ...

Maybe we should take up a collection and buy the rights.

This really looks like something their admins should sort out. It's not doing their visitors any good, and I bet it happens quite often. They need a way to disambiguate artists, sort of the way Wikipedia handles it.

Re: Programmatic Composition?
Thanks guys, these were all great suggestions. =)
I'd never seen the mix-e-load stuff before... it's a cool idea. Interface-wise, Top Be on Top seemed to be closer to what I'm looking for, but with a few more options. I guess I'll have to do some experimentation to see what works.
If anyone knows ...

Programmatic Composition?
I'm working on a game that will partly involve allowing the player to create their own music. I'd like the interface to be as simple as possible, while still offering a wide array of freedom.
For instance, they could set phrase 1 to be bassline only, with a drum fill leading into phrase 2 which is ...

That is mostly what I think too, I keep trying to do a remix that EVERYONE will like and that will not happend EVER ;)
Here's a foolproof plan: try to make a remix that you will like, and that you think EVERYONE else will hate.
I'll bet you'd be surprised by how much people end up liking it ...

Modem Wars for the C-64, by the same designer as MULE and Seven Cities of Gold. Completely brilliant game -- I still haven't found a modern multi-player game as compelling.

Re: Nintendo Wiimote Knockoff sold at Wal-Mart
I dunno, I have a strange fascination with generics and knockoffs. Like whenever I go into a new grocery store, I like to see what they call their generic version of Dr. Pepper. Dr. Check, Dr. Bold, etc...
There was an actual generic game console I saw some time back in Walgreen's (I think) that I ...

FunSpot looks awesome. We have California Extreme in San Jose once a year where collectors fill up a HUGE show room with games and pins on free play.

Re: Pondering Something about SID Music.
I could listen to the Ultima IV tunes all day, even the battle sequence which is only like 8 measures looped. =) It's a bit like listening to the soundtrack of a favorite movie*. But I also occasionally listen to SIDs I never heard before, and I appreciate them because I know there usually just one ...
