Remixer of the Year (ROTY) 2025 Voting Closes Jan 18th

05/01/2026

This is a friendly reminder that voting for the Remixer of the Year (ROTY) 2025 awards closes on Sunday, January 18, 2026. If you haven't done so, yet, you have until then to vote for your favorite remixes and remixers.

And if you can't remember all the wonderful remixes that were released in 2025, listen to snippets from each of them in the Remix News episodes that were released monthly. (November and December episodes are coming shortly, too.) That's roughly 3+ hours of music to get through, but much less than listening to all the releases in their entirety.

Remember to enter a vote for each of the remixes and remixers you want to nominate in a given category, not just one! Every single nomination will count towards the final totals.

Have fun voting!

24/12/2025

Today Matt Gray has delivered a Christmas treat for us: a brand‑new preview track from his upcoming Reformation 5 album. This latest release is an epic re‑imagining of Rob Hubbard’s legendary Commando.
Just a couple of weeks earlier, Gray unveiled the album’s first preview, a powerful remix of Martin Galway’s Arkanoid. If you missed that one, it’s definitely worth a listen.
Best of all, both tracks are available to stream and download on Bandcamp. Links below — turn up the volume and enjoy!

Back In Time 4 - Sidventure

by Chris Abbott

Welcome to Back in Time 4: Sidventure, part of the 8-Bit Symphony series of projects. It’s a series of symphonic tales, told with passion.

I planned Back in Time 4, 5 and 6 two decades ago to take over from where Back in Time 3 left off. It was always planned that they’d be largely symphonic, but it took a while (and many twists and turns) for reality to catch up.

This series of CDs contains computer-based performances of arrangements from the 8-Bit Symphony project. I used mostly VSTs from Orchestral Tools with additional libraries from Spitfire Audio, 8Dio, Impact Soundworks and Embertone. These were all integrated into Sibelius, and the scores were then marked up for realism (this is where the art comes in!). After that, they were output into Cubase where they were timing-corrected, enhanced with light reverb, mixed, and then rendered. The CD was co-produced by Kenneth Slaygon Mutka who worked closely on this project since its inception, and without whom it wouldn’t exist. Many of the production ideas are his.

Arrangements were created by myself, Rob Hubbard, Gari Biasillo, Alisdair J. Pickering, Ben Daglish, Paul Norman, Peter Connelly, Julian Breeze, Alistair Boz Bowness, Marcel Donné. They were orchestrated by Rob, Alisdair and 8-Bit Symphony conductor Robin Tate.

Big thanks to Back in Time Symphonic Collection Kickstarter backers for their patience!

This project is of course dedicated to the memories of Ben Daglish and Richard Joseph. They would have got a kick out of all this.

Listening Recommendation

The Last Ninja - The Wilderness

Arranged by Johan Andersson

Wonderful remix.

There’s an admirable amount of restraint here that keeps the whole track a consistent and enjoyable, letting you weave in your signature style while keeping the vibe of the original intact.

I also think the mix on this track is one of your best, there’s a lot more instrumentation and it compliments the brass and guitar.

How you manage to keep pushing out so many quality, well played remixes I have no idea. Good stuff!

 Delta (PSX Music2000 edit)

Arranged by Tomsk

Well, first of all, Tomsk, learn that increasing the volume of your instruments won't make for a more powerful remix and it will even lead to ugly distortion like here. The human ear is a weird non-linear microphone that has a pretty powerful computer sitting behind it - and it needs more than this to trick it. Turning down the volume of this remix one will find out that it's just another Delta remix with nothing new and nothing extraordinary.

 Apidya (End Credits)

Arranged by Tim Forsyth

I love the twist on the original track. The original was and still is one of my all time Amiga tracks, and this really does it justice. This track has taken all the key elements of the original and remixed them into a smoth but incredibly catchy track. Very well done!!! if your up for a challenge Id love to hear a version of this thats more a remake in this style, but like for like, I know that would be a good mix! 😊
