Matt Gray: The Last Ninja (Reformation 5)

23/03/2026

The first disc of the Reformation 5 campaign is now available at Bandcamp in which Matt Gray created brand new fresh remixes of all 11 tunes of The Last Ninja soundtrack. It has been a long and difficult road since Matt launched his Reformation 5 Kickstarter exactly 4 years ago, almost to the day, but I think we can all agree the wait was well worth it. Those who have backed the project should've already received their private download links. The original campaign promised a total of 3 albums, so more is yet to come from Matt!

New Remix Album: Nepawaganza

Nepawaganza consists of Greippi on electric cello and Arttu Raami on electric bass. Their debut album also features German trumpeter Sobrasson on several tracks. Nepawaganza has been around for 6 years now, they've played at about 20 gigs, including demoscene events such as Zoo and Jumalauta. Mastertronic C64 Remixes - Part 4

02/03/2026

The 4th and last part in the article series about Mastertronic C64 remixes is now available. In it Waz takes a look at tracks from commercially released albums that remixed tunes from games that were re-released by Mastertronic. If that all sounds a bit complicated, that's probably my fault - just go read the article (in which Waz also provided handy links where you can listen to the remixes he mentions), and it'll all be clear.

 Mr Danko's Opus

Arranged by Glyn R Brown

Hard to know where to start…superb choice and usage of varied and often unusual instruments. That intro man…god's sake! I've never heard such an uplifting piece as this for a long time, it's simply staggering. Incredible movement and flair throughout, with a semi-classical feel at times. This is next level orchestration, even for Glyn. Just simply stunning…STUNNING. I suspect even Danko will be floored by this tribute.

Sigh of The Eye (Analog Dust)

Arranged by ifadeo

I got a bit confused when i listened to this, the tune said sigh of the eye but my ear said platoon you buffoon!

so delving into mr dunn (ooer) i realise he obviously liked this tune so much he put it into platoon (or lifted it out and did a better sounding version) either way ifadeo has done something rather beautiful with it.
Its a very easy going sound that he has created, I can hear the usual trademark synths being used too good effect as ifadeo does, the tune was pleasent and very beautiful in the 1st place and this is pure lounge business.

The only gripe i really have is with the hi-hats in the background of the beat they sound a little too dirty but thats just a minor thing when the rest of the tune is as good as it is.
Not an essential download, you dont need this to have the definitive c64 collection but if you like good music and love easy going melodies then this would be for you.

As i said before a sociably acceptable remix that pleases my ear personally and i recommend downloading it, and for those that have never heard of the tune heed the words above it is platoon sid2 aswell as sigh of the eye so if u like that essential if you dont then trying things new never hurt anybody… except novice sword swallowers of course.

Turrican 2 Title (Highway to Heaven mix) [Encore500 V2]

Arranged by Ziona

There are a lot of Amiga Turrican remixes and the quality varies. It is clear that a lot of effort has gone into this and that there is a love for the source material. The sounds are crisp, the melodies are on point and the arrangement is top notch. The best T2 Title Remix to date IMO.
