Mastertronic C64 Remixes
The Mastetronic Collectors Archive just posted a very nice article by Warren Pilkington (Waz) in which he picked 10 great, freely available RKO remixes of tunes that originally appeared in games published by Mastertronic. This is the first of several articles to come on the topic. Head over to their website to read part 1.

Platypus Reclayed
Platypus Reclayed is a follow-up to the original Platypus game published in 2002 and it is now available on several platforms. At this point you might ask, what does this have to do with Commodore remixes? Well, because the entire soundtrack of the game consists of nothing but C64 remixes, licensed mostly from the "Back In Time 2" (1999) album!

Amiga 40
by Allister Brimble
This album is my tribute to 40 years of the Amiga, an extraordinary machine that shaped so much of my creative life.
It also honours Martyn Brown, whose encouragement opened the door to game music for me. His work with Team17 defined an era, and I owe much of my path to his belief in what I could do.
One track, ST-01, is something I’ve wanted to create for decades: a full remake of the original SoundTracker instruments. I’ve gone back to the source samples, reworking and restoring them with care, trying to capture not just the sound, but the feeling of those early days.
This album is for anyone who remembers the thrill of booting up Workbench, the joy of discovering new mods, and the magic of making music on a machine that felt like it truly understood you.
I hope it brings back some of that wonder.

Parallax Mini EP - The Past, Present and Future
Arranged by Tim Forsyth
My only minor feeling is the drums could have benefitted from a bit more variety/fills, but that's just me being picky. This is a synthetic work of art, crafted to exceptional standards. We are indeed lucky people 😊 Thank you.

The Way of the Exploding Fist OST version
Arranged by Tollis
This is the second review I am posting about this remix. In the first one I wrote that I had a nagging suspicion that this remix was created with heavy AI assistance.
I also wrote that if I am proven wrong on this, I would be the first to happily admit that I am wrong.
Well, I was wrong.
Tollis contacted me privately about my first review, and after a few email exchanges he has given me enough assurances that that this remix was NOT created with heavy AI assistance
.
Which I was actually relieved to learn, because this is a very good remix! I don't know if anybody else is familiar with the Twelve Girls Band
, a Chinese ensemble that infused traditional Chinese tunes with a modern flair. The style of this remix totally reminds me of their tunes: it's energetic, it sounds big, and it is decorated with that unmistakable Far Eastern style.
In fact, I wish this remix featured at least some authentic Chinese or Japanese instruments, that would've been the cherry on top. Another gripe I have with this remix: there are just way too many instruments placed in the middle, making the final mix sort of washed out (which was actually one of the reasons I originally thought that many of its instruments were AI generated).
But technicalities aside, the end result is hugely enjoyable, and that's what's most important.
