Remixer of the Year (ROTY) 2025 Voting Closes Jan 18th

05/01/2026

This is a friendly reminder that voting for the Remixer of the Year (ROTY) 2025 awards closes on Sunday, January 18, 2026. If you haven't done so, yet, you have until then to vote for your favorite remixes and remixers.

And if you can't remember all the wonderful remixes that were released in 2025, listen to snippets from each of them in the Remix News episodes that were released monthly. (November and December episodes are coming shortly, too.) That's roughly 3+ hours of music to get through, but much less than listening to all the releases in their entirety.

Remember to enter a vote for each of the remixes and remixers you want to nominate in a given category, not just one! Every single nomination will count towards the final totals.

Have fun voting!

24/12/2025

Today Matt Gray has delivered a Christmas treat for us: a brand‑new preview track from his upcoming Reformation 5 album. This latest release is an epic re‑imagining of Rob Hubbard’s legendary Commando.
Just a couple of weeks earlier, Gray unveiled the album’s first preview, a powerful remix of Martin Galway’s Arkanoid. If you missed that one, it’s definitely worth a listen.
Best of all, both tracks are available to stream and download on Bandcamp. Links below — turn up the volume and enjoy!

Listening Recommendation

Max Headroom (Orbital 3241 Elevator Mix)

Arranged by DHS

This Max Headroom remix seems to mix several tunes from the original game, and does a good job of it. Remixer has used some kind of lead instrument that sounds very synthy and does the job good. First part is more easy going, it is the elevator music if I am not mistaken. Goes around for about 2:22 when the tune shifts into another. It's a very synthy remix, and I think all instruments have been replaced, and with great skill. One of my favourites.

 Commando-Capella

Arranged by Igo Splashman

AHAHA lol! This is just a funny song. It isn't a great tune I like to put on when behind the computer, more one to show my friends and laugh together at it's wackyness.

I can't say this is the first time I heard game-music done A-Capella style, and I'm pretty certain the author is inspired by Virt (Virt is a known OCRemixer and semi-known gamemusic composer)'s versions of several gametunes. Igo Splashman lacks the perfect execution of Virt, but this tune is a whole lot more complex, and he pulls it off mostly, for which I give respect.

 Apidya (End Credits)

Arranged by Tim Forsyth

I love the twist on the original track. The original was and still is one of my all time Amiga tracks, and this really does it justice. This track has taken all the key elements of the original and remixed them into a smoth but incredibly catchy track. Very well done!!! if your up for a challenge Id love to hear a version of this thats more a remake in this style, but like for like, I know that would be a good mix! 😊
