Rambo - First blood on the dancefloor

Post by stainlesssteel »

Hi folks,

here is my probably last remix for some time, since my wife is back from her
3 months vacation and i will now spend more time with her than with remixing.

I hope you enjoyed some of my work lately.

In this particular mix, i have for the first time used sampled lead parts of the original sid tune. I hope it doesnt sound to much like "sid an drums". I first had done the lead part with various VST synths, but i decided to use the sid lead instead, it just sounded so right.

When remixers feel they have to _apologise_ for using SID in remixes, then the scene has DEFINITELY got lost up its own arse.

Don't apologise! Appropriate use of SID is a great thing!!
(I like this remix too!!).

Absolutely agree with this! The sid lead just sounds right here.
But what doesn't suit at all IMO is the hectic drum'n bass beat.
I'd never imagine this to go with the Rambo theme cos the bass groove feels completely different.

Heh, reminds me of a drum 'n bass Green Beret cover I did ages back ;-) Kenz didn't like that one, if I recall *LOL* I thought it worked in a strange and mysterious way...

About the drum & bass (is it really ? its actually a rather electro-maessig kind of beat just played at 187 bpm)
I first had it with a beat in the way of "philadelphia" from bruce springsteen, but the trancegate on the chords didnt fit with that so i dumped it for a quicker beat.

Im happy though that the sid part seems to work :)

It didnt make it onto RKO.

I guess i should have reworked the beat after all and put some more work into the whole piece.

But now that my wife is back, i dont have the time and space for that anymore.

I make music best when under the influence (the green stuff).

Unfortunatley there is a zero tolerance policy enforced by my wife.

So until she is going on another long vacation again, my remixes will be limited for the time being.

Doesn't work for me. Ever tried playing guitar being under the influence of the green stuff? No way.
Unless you like slow guitar solos that last 20 minutes! :)

Didn't we have a thread about this topic some weeks ago?
I believe making music makes you sex life better. Try convince your wife
about that. :)

Thats correctomundo.

She doesnt really dig it when i sit in my computerroom for hours making
music, but she accepts it. But if she would find out what i have been smokin during her absence, my ass would be grass (lol) and she'd be the lawnmower.

You dont ever want to make a thai woman angry. They're small and cute and all, but beware if they get mad -
you better duck and run for cover. And make sure there arent any sharp things around that suddenly fly in your direction.

Otherwise, its all sweet and dandy.
