sidology

Post by Steve B »

sidology, i am lead to believe, will be released at BIT Live Germany.
Chris gave me a 'taster' over the phone (you know .. that thing that lets you 'talk' to people that are miles away and 'listen' to them on a little speaker that cost about ... ooooh .. 12 pence ?

anyhoo..

i have placed my order.

want it NOW !

(to those who think that 'irony' is like 'coppery', only made of iron ..... when i heard sidology i thought (to quote a leading proffesor of the English Language 'Dr. Icn Speekit') "Shit! this is f'ckin good, man!" (Dr. Speekit is from Newcastle) and i felt a need to bung it in my CD player and hear it in full Dolby (c) Surround.)

(to those still in the dark ... "its good")

Yes, it's spelt like that as it's a tribute to Jarre.

Actually I only did the URL that way because the initial announcement
of BIT Live Germany referred to it as Sidology, and I didn't want to
cause confusion, and couldn't see the point in changing it!

Guess I failed at the confusion evasion, huh?

Anyway, the URL is http://www.backintimelive.de now, so that
URL is a red herring socket blue mushroom.

Or something.

Broadband rocks!

(I'm currently listening to the first Back in Time CD for the first time in ages - I'd forgotten how good it was!)

i remember it too. (shudder)
i remember doing a 20 meg chunk of Trap 2 and Chris saying, "just bung it up on my FTP site and i'll have a look" (sorry Chris, i dont have the 6 years it will take to spare)
and the time i spent about 30 mins emailing him a 3 meg image, and him going "that looks good" about 2 seconds after it had sent.

Rob i wanted BB sooooo bad then !

I ended up having a "Back it Time day" today - BIT1 and 2 in the morning, then BIT3 while I unpacked some D64s to "real" disks this afternoon.

It's interesting to hear how the CD's have developed - from the relatively straightforward MIDI covers (and Chris Huelsbeck's work) to the symphonic masterpieces of today.

If you haven't got the CDs yet, just click on that link up there. You know, the one that says c64audio.com. You won't regret it.

btw. does someone know where to get real 5.1/4 DD disks for the 1541 ?
5.1/4 HD don't work for sure... i need names, adresses, etc. (well, money anyway)
i have bought a lot of used DD disks and use them but they are quite old and i don't like to trust disks that are half my age...

I'm sorry, I can't reveal my sources...

Seriously, I spent ages recently copying/deleting duplicate files and re-using/recycling disks. Plus I bought a load secondhand, including some nice branded ones, UNOPENED! But they are all gone.
