WIP: Last Ninja Remix

Post by Floaf »

Hellu :-)

I would love to get some feedback on this Last ninja remix-remix (interesting name :-))
Is it worth continuing on or should I redo it or just drop this project?

By the way, Merry Christmas to all you people out there :-)

You know, for most of that, you could stick a part of the Comic Bakery lead line on and it would work (the bit in Comic Bakery that goes echoey, not the main phrase). I'm serious. I'm beginning to wonder if Matt's tune wasn't Comic Bakery inspired!

It IS nice, though that lead line is a bit flat.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and write here! :-)

Do you think I should try to fit some chip-like-thing-sounding thingie in the intro? Like arpeggio. Or something else that sounds fitting. It's kind of "empty" or clean. Or maybe just raise the volume of the synth.

I haven't thought about comic bakery ;-) but if I can borrow some of that spirit, it would be nice i guess. And yes, the lead is a bit flat i guess... Maybe I should raise the volume of the background synth as said.

Thanks again!!

Must Finish!

Post by Jax »

Absolutely - this is sounding sweet.

I have to admit, when I saw the topic was about yet another LN remix I was dubious - the tune has been done to death, with varying success, but I was *very* pleasantly surprised with your progress.

You've got some very mellow sounds going there, and the little arpeggio pieces sound very Galway-esque, which adds a nice touch to a non-Galway tune :o

How much more work do you think you have on this? I like it just fine as it is - too many remixers seem to go overboard and over-engineer stuff. Right now it's clean, simple (I mean that in a nice way  ) and very, very mellow!

Thanks again for listening to it.
I know what you mean Jax, and dont worry, I won't add 200 more synths to this one.

Actually, I seem to overuse the reverb effect, or more like too many reverb effects, because this is as much effects my computer can handle, running at 99% CPU usage (and until they release a version of Reason that has SMP support, I'll promise to take it easy with the over-engineering :-))

The only two things i must do is add something or change the lead synth in the second part, bacuse it sounds too clean/flat, as Chris pointed out (yes, i hear it too :-)), and make some kind of finishing.

I'll be back // Floaf

Makes me want...

Post by Jax »

Does the start of the tune make anybody else (probably only from the UK) want to eat a Cadbury Flake...?

:P

Urgh - I've tried to track down the tune for ages - bloody impossible, and now tv-ark has been demolished by some bloody site that charges (minimum) 15 quid a year for 'membership' - that's plain mean - I only want one sodding advert!

Anybody got it?

Update...

Post by Floaf »

Updated the ending a bit.

It's the same link: http://www.x-formz.com/download/x-formz ... _remix.mp3

Dimmignatt told me that he didn't like the chip/lead-combination in the end, so I'm trying to figure something out that sounds better.
Any suggestions? :-)
