Just curious...

Also, if you do Play live, what is your live rig/set up?

We use a laptop for our backng trax

For the live parts we use:

PAL German C64 with music machine cart
NTSC American C128 with c64 synth cart by paul slocum (atarisynth fame)
2 Gameboy classics with LSDJ (http://www.littlesounddj.com)
Suziki Omnichord circa 1981
and an Acoustic drum set

WE are now implamenting an atari2600 with atari synthcart and a NEW Midi NES!

It's also scary, demands technical proficiency, and is generally a bit of a risk...

I mean, I've played live with SID80s, PPOT play live, and there's that whole crew.

I have this idea to make a band where all the bandmembers have computerized instruments with all their original sounds exchanged with rave sounds. Like a heavyguitar with an usual rave-lead, electric drumset(not one of those pussy square-shaped things, I'm talking about one of those PPOT uses) with samples from SchkallKraft, and of course an regular synth for strings and other background fx and a bass guitar with a smoother sound.
Fixing bandmembers will be hard because no death metal musicians can stand happy hardcore, and they are the only ones capable of playing in 180-200. But fixing a singer and a songwriter wont be so hard, I think. Just asking(showing the wallet for) some of the girls from Visa Röster and Makke, piece cake!
Add fat ass monitors, some hysterical lazers and every tune from The Cheesebakers Vol#3-album live and all, and the success is a fact! :D

I havent played live in a band in about 10 years :/

I didnt miss the in-band moaning and bitching... but now I *do* miss the vibe of playing live in a band to an audience... or just the joy of jamming with fellow musos.

I used to love sitting there with my synth and my guitarist buddy improvising our music as we went along.

I haven't played live in a band in about 5 years. Chucks I even miss all the moaning and bitching and all of us ganging up on our drummer to make fun of him. The live vibe is something special. I love the feeling after the first song, if the crowd doesn't boo you off the stage ;)

Ok, if you insist: I play live, music that has exactly nothing to do with SID and stuff, and (in the moment) I'll only rely on two Jackson guitars, a Marshall halftstack, a Morley Wah and an old Zoom 9030 multieffect with a Behringer pedalboard. And in the moment I'm trying to get my live setup even simpler yet more effective.
Any gear, any cable that is involved additionally will make the risk higher of something going wrong on stage. There is nothing more embarrassing than that.

Sure, I can play live, but I choose not to, simply because I'm a lazy tart ;)

I ws thinking of forming a band with 4 members, each with a laptop/small keyboard controller and some Nobs to change sounds. A big Projection screen in the background and the middle of the show we would all change outfits to some Sort of Glowing Grid on our costumes and maybe if the budget allowed it, some manaquines resembling us, moving in sync with music.

What do you think? ;)
