"Wings of Death" Kickstarter Fully Funded!

22/05/2026

The crowdfunding campaign of Wings of Death - Reworked Anthology, a project by the German Remix Group (GRG) has just ended - and we're glad to report it got fully funded! In fact, it far surpassed its original goal of €6,500, which means that there will be bonus remixes on the album by Tronimal, Nordischsound, Fabian Del Priore, Chris Hülsbeck, Barry Leitch, and Matt Gray, too! The support from the retro community has been fantastic, and the GRG is really grateful for it. Well done, fans, and congrats to the German Remix Group for the highly successful campaign!

Note: if for some reason you missed this campaign, you can still order digital downloads from the project.

25 Years Ago: The First "Back In Time Live!"

19/05/2026

It was exactly 25 years ago on May 16, 2001 when the first Back In Time Live! event was held in a club in Birmingham. Back then many of us thought this might be our only chance to meet our heroes, the C64 musicians who enriched our lives in the 1980s, so we flocked to the place from all around the world. It was a euphoric event whose success luckily spawned many more meet-ups. So, let's get a bit teary eyed as we remember that milestone event…

Marcel Donné - Sidologie CD

Sidologie

by Marcel Donne

If Jarre and Vangelis had done C64 music: they would have sounded like this. Highlights include a stunning cover of Rob Hubbard's Knucklebusters, a full length Miami Vice which fills the soul with Martin Galway's rhythmic and arpeggionic genius, and a cheeky Band in the Rain tribute with the Wizball High Score Theme. From Jarre to Vangelis, to a sound that reminds you of both but remains unique to Marcel, this album goes way beyond tribute into soul satisfying. C64 Music has never sounded so evocative.

Very relaxing remix of a classic SID tune. The soothing atmosphere just makes me glide away!

 Tintin On The Moon

Arranged by BeeZerk

This SID is near and dear to my heart, so maybe my expectations were too high, but this remix is just wandering left and right aimlessly and doesn't go anywhere. It holds so much promise until about 1:30 but then - nothing. We get simple piano instead. Sorry, that just doesn't do it for me. Then it builds up again and - nothing. It's frustrating to listen to! It has all the right elements to make it a great remix, it just seems to be afraid to go that far. Too bad.

I didn’t know the original SID track so I also gave that one a spin. I like the darkness of this tune and what the remixer did to it. The sounds are A+++ , nice production, true to the original and this should blast out of your speakers, regardless what setting. Great stuff 👊🏻
