New CD by Jogeir Liljedahl 23/09/2008
From the website:

A full 9 years after the release of his debut CD, The Wanderer, comes the next highly awaited album from Jogeir Liljedahl.

Aptly titled "Out of Silence", the album is a melodic/electronic music feast from beginning till end, with uplifting melodies, sparkling chords, typical Jogeir style wonderful bass lines, and with additional guitar appearances by Øyvind Vik.

This album also features a guest appearance by Chris Hülsbeck who co-wrote the track "Graveness & Romantics" with Jogeir, and by Fabian del Priore who also took part in co-composing and arranging some of the tracks.

This album is released as a download only album. You can buy the full album in 256-kbps MP3 files, or in Lossless FLAC audio format, in the LynneMusic Download Shop. The purchase also includes full cover artwork (4-page booklet and Inlay tray) complete with plenty of text from Jogeir. This comes as a high resolution printable PDF file, so you can print it on a color printer and make yourself a real cover, if you want to. In his album cover text, Jogeir discusses the story behind each and every track on the album, as well other general ramblings. :-)

8 Bit Weapon's "Confidential 2.0" album is now available 21/08/2008
8 Bit Weapon: Confidential 2.0This version of Confidential has even more SID packed tracks than ever before! The album not only has the original 12 songs but now includes 6 additional remixes!

"8-Bit Weapon's trademark SID 'n Drums is here, for those who wish remixes had more of that powerful SID sound, and less faffing about :)

Seth Sternberger is an experienced live performer who's done Las Vegas and London, and is currently being marketed by Nokia: normally his sound is more eclectically 8-bit, but here he's targeted his favourite SIDs and put his imprint on them, to great effect.

The album is available as a digital album in FLAC and MP3 (note the "whole album" download), but 64 limited edition signed and numbered copies in a 5.25" disk sleeve are available too.

Highlights of the album include the trippy "Acidgroove", and the epic Times of Lore main theme which apparently took two weeks just mastering!"-Chris Abbott, C64audio.com

Reyn's GrandMix 2008 (1st of three) 21/08/2008

Hello remixers and listeners!

In Holland there was this guy in the '80's and '90's called Ben Liebrand, who mixed all the hit songs from that year into a one hour long track. I loved those remixes, and I thought it would be nice to take new tracks from RKO and put them in one big long remix.

I took tracks from the first 4 months of the year and there are now 32 different tracks pressed into this first GrandMix which is 40 minutes long. If I would do all three Grandmixes this year every 4 months (to make the full year) in the end combining them would mean a 2 hour GrandMix 2008! Could be a fun beginning of next year!

I'm gonna broadcast the first remix next Thursday 28th of August at 20:00! Be on time!

And keep on remixing! I need the material! Let's make this a great Remix64 year!!

Cheers,

Reyn.

Symphonic Shades appears on radio 26/07/2008
A big surprise for every Huelsbeck fan, even those which couldn't get one of the very popular tickets for the "Symphonic Shades" concert on August 23rd 2008. The official website reports now that there will not only a CD release, but also a full broadcast on the german local radio WDR4 which can be received by antenna, cable or worldwide via Satellite and livestream. So Chris Huelsbeck writes history again because it is the very first game music concert worldwide which will be broadcasted live in radio.

Syntax Era - Remix64 Volume 3

by Remix64 Team

Pure Geek-cheek! Take famous 80s tracks such as 19, Two Tribes, Too Shy, Billy Jean, Broken Wings and I Feel Love, painstakingly recreate the sound, and inject that into classic C64 music such as BMX Kidz, Comic Bakery, Sanxion, Arkanoid and Ghouls and Ghosts. Remixes come from amazing talent: Romeo Knight, LMan, Makke, Tom Detert, Tron, Moog, Binster, Ziphoid, Boz, Sonic Wanderer, Tonka, Skitz, Trace, Slaygon, iFadeo and even (gasp) a guest appearances here and there from Chris Abbott. You'll wonder how we could get away with such a cheeky tribute to the 80s: well, no samples from the original tracks were used, and the musical content has been replaced by the C64 tune covered. The CD also features some really great songs in their own right, which result from a perfect match between C64 melodies and hooks, the sound of SID, and classic 80s instrumentation, such as Ace II, Jethro Walrus, Aspar Grand Prix, and Dominator. The CD was the baby of Markus "LMan" Klein, who acted as Co-ordinator, remixer, artist and layout, and even made his own tea, ably assisted by Tom Detert who did much of the mastering. CD is in now shipping! Tracks are available in high quality VBR MP3 and FLAC (all non-DRM).

This SID is near and dear to my heart, so maybe my expectations were too high, but this remix is just wandering left and right aimlessly and doesn't go anywhere. It holds so much promise until about 1:30 but then - nothing. We get simple piano instead. Sorry, that just doesn't do it for me. Then it builds up again and - nothing. It's frustrating to listen to!

It has all the right elements to make it a great remix, it just seems to be afraid to go that far. Too bad.
