A Tribute To Jochen Hippel

A Tribute to Jochen Hippel

by German Remix Group

In the 1990's Jochen Hippel produced many tunes for Atari ST games and demos. A Tribute to Jochen Hippel is the first remix project of the German Remix Group, founded by Amok, CZ-Tunes, Dr. Future, Eiz and Mitch van Hayden. With Jochen Hippel’s permission the five GRG remixers created a free MP3-album released in the winter season 2011/2012 to give their tribute to a real Atari ST legend.

Production and release of this album with permission of Jochen Hippel. This is a free MP3 release. Please feel free to copy the album in it's entirety (original MP3 ID tags and artwork) for private use, general free distribution or just to share with your friends. Listening Recommendation

 Lightforce (2021 Edit)

Arranged by Dr Future

I have no idea how you manage to get your mixes sound so crisp and clear, but doesn't matter on what system I listen to this one, it just punches through speakers and headphones no problem.

Anyway, I gave your previous version an orange 2 years ago, and this one definitely earns the red one. More guitars, less reverb/echo on the lead, and just an improved sound overall. I wish the guitar lead was more nuanced at places (like at 4:36 maybe should've used mutes instead), but that's just a minor gripe. I really like it!

Green Beret (We Shall Never Surrender)

Arranged by Hazel

What an amazing piece! Just makes me want to lean back and remember WW2, especially the break with the samples of war, and the speech by Churchill. (hence the title of the tune). Love the way you mix between techno-like tune and almost a classical piece that could be played by an orchestra. This is on my playlist. Could have wished for a no-so-open ending. Maybe another part of a speech from WW2, slowly fading away?

While listening to this remix I am going to the journey of 8-bit C64 nostalgia. The sounds somehow reminds me some old Jeroen Tel waves. Congrats!
