Markus Siebold 1969-2026
We have just learned that Markus Siebold — musician, SID composer, and remixer — has recently passed away at the age of 57. He is best known for creating music for the game Turrican II: The Final Fight on the C64, alongside numerous other SID tunes throughout the late 80s and early 90s. Over the years, he shared his own remakes of that iconic soundtrack here on Remix64, along with several other remixes. We are deeply saddened by his loss and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, to his friends, and to everyone touched by his life and his music.

Matt Gray: Green Beret Main Theme (R5 Version)
Another track from Matt Gray's Reformation 5 dropped today:
Matt Gray: This time it's one of the remakes for the main R5 album and an all time favourite C64 tune Green Beret Title/Main Theme by the maestro Martin Galway. I must have re started on this track half a dozen times over the last couple of years and I finally found a blend of SID elements and new parts that I really like.
I can still remember the Saturday afternoon in the summer of 1986 that I bought this game and rushed home to load it up and check out what Mr G had conjured up. The loading music was excellent but this title theme blew me away at the time.
Hopefully you all feel much the same when you hear this new version.

Video Game Music Live In Åkersberga, Stockholm, September 12-13

Wiren (Retrogamingmusic) will perform live on stage (Saturday 16:00 CET) at the Videospel Festival in Stockholm. The full event will also be live streamed at RetroGamingMusics YouTube page.
Some of the other famous acts at this event will be the creator of the C64 Fairlight game Bo Jangeborn, Linus Åkesson (LFT), Christer Rindeblad (DatorMagazin), Jimmy Wilhelmsson AKA Spelpappan (Generation64, Fandrake), David Westerlund.

Some good news in this update as I have another finished Last Ninja 2 R5 track for you to hear and it's my new version of Central Park Loading Theme.
I've put it up on Bandcamp where you can listen or download and hopefully the rest of the LN2 R5 album won't be too far away.

so delving into mr dunn (ooer) i realise he obviously liked this tune so much he put it into platoon (or lifted it out and did a better sounding version) either way ifadeo has done something rather beautiful with it.
Its a very easy going sound that he has created, I can hear the usual trademark synths being used too good effect as ifadeo does, the tune was pleasent and very beautiful in the 1st place and this is pure lounge business.
The only gripe i really have is with the hi-hats in the background of the beat they sound a little too dirty but thats just a minor thing when the rest of the tune is as good as it is.
Not an essential download, you dont need this to have the definitive c64 collection but if you like good music and love easy going melodies then this would be for you.
As i said before a sociably acceptable remix that pleases my ear personally and i recommend downloading it, and for those that have never heard of the tune heed the words above it is platoon sid2 aswell as sigh of the eye so if u like that essential if you dont then trying things new never hurt anybody… except novice sword swallowers of course.

The intro: fantastic instrumentation, immediately sets a grungy, dystopic mood (actually, it reminds me of They Live for some reason). But then at 0:32 the punchiness of the bass disappears as the other instruments come in. The electric organ at 0:55 would be brilliant - but it's barely audible in the mix. The lead coming in at 1:10 is also too soft and remains so for the rest of the tune.
So, again, brilliant ideas, a very good arrangement - but this just screams out for a better mix.
