Story

Okay.... Kind of a response remix...

A while back I reviewed a remix, (I'm not gonna name, names but if you read between the lines, you might work it out). In that review, I was really constructive with ideas about things that might have lifted it from the sea of grey & yellow faces that it had. At the same time I was honest about the remix's shortcomings and scored it with grey for the reasons I had stated. The response I got was a heap of green & grey faces on all my recent remixes, (even 'Defender of the crown' which is last years C64 remix of the year). So, Instead of reviewing or even commenting on that 'remixer's' current 'Cybenoid II' remix, I thought I'd try to demonstrate how you take a SID tune that already has many, many remixes and covers and take it somewhere different.. Maybe the 'lightbulb' will switch on... I hope so...

For everyone else.. I hope you enjoy this..

Fantastic interpretation.
Very nice take on a classic!
Cybernoid is one of those tunes where you think you've heard every possible way to tackle the track. Trust me, you haven't lived until you've heard this version.
This is a great one with a perfect "live" character!
Absolutely crazy sounds. I like the Hamond keyboard and guitar work.
The remix master is back and on blazing form with a Jeroen Tel classic.. I just love the twiddly electric piano bits.
Good idea realised with skill, giving an organic feel. Not for the rhyme, I'm having a good time.
I'm sorry for me it's nothing special it doesn't move me I don't like it
Great Latin Rock feel towards the end and I love the moody saxophone
1st thought.. Not another Cybernoid. 2nd thought oooh, give me more cybernoid! Brilliant.
I found the mixing a little muddy, but I'm not going to let that lower my vote. Brilliant idea and execution. The muddy sound actually adds to the live feel. Hats off, Mr. Clarke!
It takes a lot of effort to make something sound different to all those that have come before it whilst remaining like the original tune. This is one of those remixes. Quite possibly the best version of this tune to date.
Skillfully done for sure, love the small nuances and organic feel of the whole mix
Fantastic, very slick and a cool take on this classic.
Awesome Remix!
The Sax in this really speaks to me.
Very good remix for The Blue Oyster music bar!

Ladies and Gentlemen - this is as close to perfection as one can get with a remix. The superb skills of Peter's talent are on full display here: the arrangement is impeccable, the instrumentation is spot-on for a prog-rock styled remix, and it sure sounds like most of it is recorded live playing. And it even adds extras: like the wonderful riffs on the guitars and on the electric organ, not to mention the superb counter-melody on the sax in the later parts. Wow, just WOW! Bravo, Peter!

Alright, I'm with LaLa on this one. It's technically brilliant and the arrangement is just superb. If there was something higher than a red smiley, I'd award it to this remix. This is a real musician and composer at work.
